Enjoy a 5k run/walk through history in this charming 19th century village. Descendants of the original settlers welcome you to the Annual Bishop Hill Swedish Stomp & Skamparoo. A unique hand carved wooden boot goes to the overall winner in both the male and female categories. Post race refreshments are served inside The Colony School. The Bishop Hill Old Settler's Association organizes the Stomp with proceeds going to help restore and maintain the 1861 Colony School and grounds.
Bishop Hill is a National Landmark Village, listed in the National Register of Historic Places and an Illinois State Historic Site. Founded in 1846 by Swedish immigrants, who created a new life for themselves in this lovely Illinois location. Plan to linger after the race to enjoy the many museums, shops, galleries and restaurants in this picturesque town. Or arrive Friday and after dinner at The Filling Station spend the night at Twinflower Inn B&B .
